Introduction

The Risley House, formerly The Holiday Manor Guest House, has quite a history to share with its welcomed guests.

It was built as a residence in the early 1900's by Reese Risley, one of three brothers that founded and governed the town of Stone Harbor.  The Risley House has enjoyed the beauty of its seashore surroundings and endured the ravages of coastal storms.  There are pictures lining the sun room that depict the history of this stately house.  Furthermore, Risley House is recognized as one of Stone Harbor's historical landmarks.

In 1986, the property was bought by corporate members of The Windrift and was known as The Holiday Manor Guest House.

Recently, Bed and Breakfasts have gained notoriety throughout Cape May County, their popularity evident in Cape May City.  In 1996 and 1997, under the direction of Warren Buckingham, The Holiday Manor's eleven rooms and nine bathrooms underwent major renovations to modernize its comfort and revitalize its Victorian charm.  Upon completion of the restoration The Holiday Manor became a Bed and Breakfast and it was only fitting to rename the property, appropriately, The Risley House.

The Risley welcomes everyone to enjoy its Victorian flair in a tranquil community undisturbed by large crowds and commercial hype.  Imagine, if you will, awakening to the smell of fresh coffee and home-baked muffins.  Enjoy breakfast and your complimentary newspaper either in the sun room or sitting in a high-back rocker on the veranda.  These are several of many amenities offered by Risley House - so, come and visit the home of Reese P. Risley and experience comfort and solitude at its best.
